You sure must have been. This is Helge Oldach's homepage. The purpose for its existence is to share ideas, thoughts, hacks and other nifty stuff with the public. Feel free to make use of it, but be aware that it's often work in progress. Don't worry if you don't understand a bit: there are many others out there who do, so it's not your fault. Anyway: welcome.

If you have been redirected to this web site because of an invalid mail address, please re-mail using the address 1952374512@oldach.net . To avoid mail address harvesters, all my publicly addresses have a limited validity. In fact, this web site gratuitously delivers a lot of food as a service for these harvesters.
Random hacks:
mod_gunzip -- an Apache module implementing server-side decompression of gzip compressed documents. Makes use of zlib functionality.
mod_bunzip2 -- an Apache module implementing server-side decompression of bzip2 compressed documents. Makes use of libbzip2 functionality.
mod_gunzip and mod_bunzip2 are basically the same, they only rely on different decompression libraries. Users of the Cisco documentation CD should be aware that mod_gunzip is what was needed until June 2000. Starting with the July 2000 edition Cisco switched to bzip2 compression--you want to use mod_bunzip2 instead. It is however safe to have both modules configured simultaneously in an Apache server.
Martin Kiff has compiled a very good description on set-up and usage of these modules.
Note that these modules are applicable to Apache version 1.x only. I may provide Apache version 2.x variants later, but at this moment their function can be easily implemented by filters essentially running gunzip or bunzip2, respectively.
Decrypt Cisco »type 7«-encrypted passwords with this Perl script. See how blatantly simple the algorithm really is -- just a few lines of Perl. Also works for passwords longer than 11 characters (i.e. doesn't chop after 11 characters and doesn't get confused with newer IOS versions which have alleviated this limit).
